Book Published: Foamed Concrete

Assalamualaikum and hallo everyone,
My book titled “Foamed Concrete Properties at Elevated Temperatures: Potential Applications as Fire Resistant and Load Bearing Panel in Low Rise Residential Construction” has been published with International Publisher (Lambert Academic Publishing). After a lot of hard work and many late nights I am happy to declare that I am now a published author! It has been a long old slog but its totally been worth it. My book is available through most of the online book stores including Amazon for those who may want to purchase it.

Thank you very much to all of those people who supported me, helped me and spurred me on. The details about the book as follows:

Descriptions:

Foamed concrete is cementatious material integrated with mechanically entrained foam in the mortar slurry which can produce a variety of densities ranging from 400 to 1600 kg/m3. The application of foamed concrete has been primarily as a filler material in civil engineering works. This work explores the potential of using foamed concrete in building construction, as non-load-bearing partitions of lightweight load-bearing structural members. Experimental and analytical studies has been undertaken to develop quantification models to obtain thermal and mechanical properties of foamed concrete at ambient and elevated temperatures. Although foamed concrete mechanical properties are low in comparison to normal weight concrete, foamed concrete may be used as partition or light load-bearing walls in a low rise residential construction. The results of a preliminary feasibility study indicate that foamed concrete can achieve very good thermal insulation performance for fire resistance.

About the Author

Sr Dr Md Azree obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester in 2010. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Universiti Sains Malaysia. His specialisation lies in the area of foamed concrete, material properties at elevated temperatures, heat transfer, sandwich construction and robustness of structures under extreme loading.

Birthday Surprise

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the first year Building Technology and Building Surveying students for their surprise birthday party during BT & BS night on 31st Dec 2011. Thanks for the lovely birthday gifts as well.

Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had, and what you've learned from them, and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated

Well, birthdays are simply emblematic of how another year has departed by and how little we've developed. No matter how desperate we are that sooner or later a better self will emerge, with each flicker of the candles on the cake, we know it's not to be, that for the rest of our sad, wretched pathetic lives, this is who we are to the bitter end. Unavoidably, irreversibly; happy birthday? No such thing

Welcome to my blog

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone,

Welcome to the initial post of my drazree.blogspot.com personal blog. I’ve thought for a while about starting a blog based on some advice and recommendation from my few friends. This is my first effort and attempt at starting my own blog site. After several years of blog reading, I determined to give a new step and begin to inscribe about issues that interests me. It is obvious that I have a lot to discover, but I am flabbergasted at what I have already accomplished. As I learn more about the mechanics of blogging, I will purify this site and add new functionality to it.

In this blog, I anticipate to share about anything and everything. I merely will share whatsoever that comes to my mind. I won’t be following a habitual posting schedule here. I hope to adjoin some valuable input here on a regular basis, and I’ll try to keep it short and not bore you. I’ll primarily be using this to keep you up to date with what I’m working on and what I’ve come across but I also hope to add some constructive and useful articles and tips for self improvement, personal growth and productivity, motivation and education.

Please feel free to offer any feedback, suggestions about the topics that you would like to see and areas where I can get a little closer to perfection regarding this blog.
